Hilary’s poetic tribute to her grandson published

Members of St George’s who have been with us for 4 years or more will remember Eric and Hilary Binks, very dear members of our church family, and regular occupants of the second pew on the right at morning services until they moved to Penrith in August 2015, to be nearer their daughter after her son, Ben, took his own life at the age of 27.

Hilary describes her state then as being ‘in a very dark place’ but out of it has now come a Rainbow Anthology of poetry and prose, written by Hilary with the help of Penrith’s dementia café members and the Pele Court writers’ group, and now published in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Hilary says the message of the book is that: ‘you’re never too old to find something new, recognise a talent and keep the colour in your life’. Amen to that!
