Worship suspended

The Bishop of Carlisle wrote to all clergy and chaplains in Carlisle Diocese yesterday to advise that public worship has been suspended in the Diocese of Carlisle in line with government recommendations and the Church of England nationally.

Where possible, St George’s will remain open as a place for private prayer, providing the two-metre social distancing rules are observed and the instructions displayed and facilities provided for general public hygiene and handwashing are observed by all visitors.

We are doing all we can to support vulnerable members of our congregation, including holding them, our local community and all those affected in prayer.

Please visit our Prayer page for materials to support private prayer, worship and contemplation at this time. We hope to add more resources over the coming days and weeks and will keep you posted!
