Since the floods members of St George’s have been running a drop-in café between 11.30 and 2.30 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at church. People have very generously continued to donate food and there is always hot soup, sandwiches, fruit, tea and coffee available for whoever needs it. More importantly, volunteers are there to chat and to listen and, if they can, to offer advice.
We have recently been training in completing the Flood Support Registration Forms from the Gateway Centre which are a good way to access the services you need to sort yourself and your property out.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays the Catholic church in Kendal – Holy Trinity and St George – is also offering lunches and support. Holy Trinity is on the other side of the river from St George’s on New Road.
